About
Why this exists.

This site comes from a simple lesson learned the hard way: activity is not the same as progress. The urge to “do something” when markets are moving is often the same urge that chips away at an account over time.
The phrase “sitting on your hands” is old trading advice, and it still helps. When conditions do not favor your plan, the skilled response is to wait. Hands off the keyboard. Cash is allowed.
That meaning expanded when desk tools could place as well as research. Sitting is also a funded Agentic session that runs the scans, respects the gates, and still stays flat: empty liquid lists, soft tape, earnings windows, or a Wheel slot left empty after a clean exit. The brand is patience for people and for desks that refuse to invent tickets. See Why Soyhands and the sit list.
What modern markets encourage
Brokers earn when you trade. Scanners exist to surface more names. Social feeds celebrate the big winner and bury the quiet day where someone protected their capital by doing nothing. The ecosystem rewards motion.
The math does not. A 50% loss needs a 100% gain to get even. A deep drawdown from overtrading can take a long time to repair, if it ever does. That asymmetry is worth keeping in view, even when everything around you is shouting for action.
What we try to practice
- *Cash is a position. Being flat in a hostile market is not “missing out.” It can be the right allocation for that day.
- *Match the strategy to the day. Running a momentum plan in a mean-reverting tape is not bravery. It is a mismatch.
- *Boredom is often a good sign. If every session feels exciting, you may be trading too often. Patience is part of the craft.
- *Skipped bad trades matter. One avoided mistake can be worth more than one good winner, because it leaves you clear-headed for the next real setup.
The name
soyhands is short for “sitting on your hands.” Easy to type. Easy to remember when the scanner is loud.
