2026-07-22: MAE in the grab
How we got involved
Open-drive / daily-gainer path when dedicated RVOL power-hour scans were empty near the open. Desk read a pullback-reclaim into HPE.
Stock / plan context (~09:45-09:49 ET)
| Field | Value | How used |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | About $49.03 (example ~13 shares) | Live long |
| Take-profit (TP) | About $49.20 (~0.5× 5m ATR) | Planned reward |
| MAE used | About entry - 1.0× ATR (~$48.70) | Mechanical stop |
| Problem | That MAE sat on the open-drive liquidity grab | Stops cluster there |
Outcome
Flattened after the bid tagged the MAE zone. Process loss. Book flat after.
Lesson
Do not park stops in the liquidity sweep. Prefer buys at the reclaim and structural cuts on a close beyond the swept extreme (or a time cut). This became a hard playbook rule and feeds Regime D language used on later days (see IREN, EW).
